The Monthly Roundup: Who Do You Want to Be?
“It’s all a process, steps along a path. Becoming requires equal parts patience and rigor. Becoming is never giving up on the idea that there’s more growing to be done.” -Michelle Obama
You ever reflect on life and think, “I know where I want to be, but nothing around me is proof of that?”
If anyone relates to that, I do. As a dreamer and visionary, sometimes the details overwhelm me. I see the promise-land, I see the glimpses of things God has put in my heart. But what trips me out is the day-to-day. Remembering that the process is just as important as the promise. I also think that delays or simply the process of life keeps us humble. When the day comes that it all aligns, we have proof of endurance. That the scars we carry were not in vain.
To be completely transparent, I definitely fumbled in many ways this year. As grateful as I am for all my experiences, I am equally grateful for a loving Father who corrects and loves all in one. None of us is perfect, and Lord knows I am living proof. Even with all my flaws and mistakes, it was such a sweet year. I really feel like I found my voice (again), stood up for myself and navigated boundaries. Ending the year feeling a lot more honest than I’ve ever been, and a clarity I’ve always wanted.
A looming question that has been on my heart is, “Who Do You Want to Be?” It is packed with a punch, huh? Especially when we focus on our flaws. We feel fraudulent to even want better for ourselves. But you know what? His mercy is NEW every morning. Each day is a reminder that as long as we have breath, we can do better. We can reach for all the things God has set up for us. The other side of that question might be for those who are comparing or feel inadequate, maybe you don’t feel like you have what it takes. In the words of every Nigerian Mom/Dad, “Do they have two heads?” Instead of comparing ourselves, we should celebrate those who are putting their hands to the plow AND it can be a source of inspiration of what is possible for us. Hear me on this, everyone feels inadequate, and you never know UNTIL you try.
I had a clear reminder on that this year. I signed up to volunteer with our enterprise leadership group (Think almost 12,000 members). I definitely felt inadequate but pushing past how I felt opened up another door. I was able to host and facilitate a topic on Imposter Syndrome and over 300 women joined in. My mission is to use my voice to empower and uplift. That was such a defining moment and a reminder for me.
At the top of the year, I will be sharing a free resource that I hope it will help you to reflect and prepare for the year ahead! Stay tunneeeddddd 😉

There are workout shoes and there are shoes that look like workout shoes. HA! Online it does say that the shoe can be used for low impact workouts BUT I am not going to use it for any workouts that I do. It’s a nice errand shoe. And because it is knit, it is easy to slip in and out of. Especially if you are out shopping and trying on clothes. That’s a HUGE win. Not only that, BUT THE PRICE IS ALSO RIGHT. HEAR ME? Just check the link and you will see. It’s also available in a light pink and black color.

When it comes to all things planners the brand Erin Condren IS THAT GIRL!! I have tons of their notebooks and planners. They have quality products and I equally enjoy how they highlight black artists in February and beyond. The focused collection is definitely a favorite of mine.
Hustle & Hope – Inspiration Greetings Cards for Career Planning, entrepreneurship, and all of life that happens between.
I love women-led businesses and had to support my fellow University of Houston Cougar. I purchased a sweatshirt from there and it will be my go-to for all my 2023 planning. You can check out them out here!
