The start of the year can bring on certain anxieties with getting back into routine. Personally, it has been a bit harder for me. If you’re like me and enjoyed time with your family over the break and time to disconnect, getting back to flow can take an adjustment. I want you to know that you are NOT alone. New Year anxiety is actually normal and according to an article by The Stylist UK those anxieties are amplified from schedules that are overwhelming, the time we spent with our families, financial woes and more.

There are certain things we can’t control and we can’t stop time BUT we can control what we meditate on and think about. We can slowly get out of the natural funk that comes with an year and nurture our souls with motivation and inspiration.

Here are some top podcasts to listen to for your mindset and motivation for 2023!

This was not an actual podcast, but I had to include it in my list. I have watched this 3 times and it has blessed my soul. The guests alongside Mrs. Obama included Winnie Harlow, H.E.R aka Gabriella Wilson, Kelly Rowland, and Tina Knowles-Lawson.

Key Takeaways:

  • There is freedom in being yourself and you are not as concerned as people liking you as we mature in age (Tina Knowles-Lawson)

Life gets better and you will settle into yourself (Michelle Obama)

Perfectionism hinders us from living and being our authentic selves (H.E.R)

Episode 8: Danielle Moss – Co-Founder of The Every Girl on Using Instagram to Grow Your Business

I am a huge fan of The EveryGirl and all they have accomplished for over a decade. When I think of my own pursuits there are so many elements on their website and brand that empower my dreams. When you don’t see what you SEE (in your mind) around you, do your research until you find things that spark you.

“Sometimes you have to let go of a few things to focus on what’s really important.”

On this podcast episode hosted by Monica Royer, she interviews one of the co-founders of The Every Girl, Danielle Moss. This interview will encourage you ESPECIALLY with new dreams, gaining momentum and scaling.

Key Takeaways:

4. In The Light with Dr. Anita Phillips

Killing Comparison with Pastor Nona Jones

Dr. Anita Phillips was a voice that challenged and empowered us during the height of the pandemic. Her podcasts were what I needed and so many others around the world. She is such a gem as well as this podcast episode. THEY WENT THERE! If a comparison is holding you back, I highly encourage you to listen to her interview with Pastor Nona Jones.

Key Takeaways:

  • We can stop comparison in its tracks when we ask ourselves probing questions (for example if you are feeling left out due to a photo you see on social media, ask yourself, “why does this matter?” This helps to acknowledge our feelings AND get to the root of it)

  • Someone else’s success doesn’t mean you are a failure

  • Pastor Nona Jones wrote this book from her own story and identifying how much women struggle with toxic comparison

  • You can tell if your comparison is healthy vs. unhealthy depending on what it does to you internally (“Let their success be your inspiration”)

  • Nona Jones is SO REAL and talks about body image and getting a BBL

  • Stop looking at other people as a threat

5. Find Your Voice Podcast with Allison Fallon

Melissa Joulwan on going against your audience to find your voice

What I enjoyed about this podcast is the important reminder that showing up authentically will always be game-changer.

Key Takeaways:

  • Finding your voice is not allowing the distraction of what other people are doing or expectations of what others think you should be, BUT focusing on who you are.

  • Being authentic leads to organic growth

  • When you are true to your voice, you will attract those who we need to attract
